As a committed and responsible organization, B\u00e2tirente has been deploying its efforts with conviction in favour of responsible finance for over 15 years. Climate change is certainly one of the ongoing drivers that have guided our course of action in sustainable investing.<\/p>\n<p>Responding to the urgent need to take action, B\u00e2tirente unveiled an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.batirente.com\/en\/responsible-investment\/climate-commitment\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-cke-saved-href=\"https:\/\/www.batirente.com\/en\/responsible-investment\/climate-commitment\/\">ambitious climate commitment<\/a> last fall aimed both at mitigating the cause of global warming by reducing greenhouse gas emissions and mitigating its consequences.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, B\u00e2tirente engages on behalf of its members, in a robust climate-friendly dialogue with listed companies, fund managers and the entire financial community.<\/p>\n<p>Here are a few recent initiatives:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>B\u00e2tirente supports the Canadian government\u2019s proposed [wpfilebase tag=fileurl id=295 linktext=&#8217;* Clean Fuel Regulations (CFR)&#8217; \/] that aims at reducing carbon intensity of liquid fossil fuels produced in and imported into Canada.<\/li>\n<li>With support from \u00c6quo, Shareholder Engagement Services, B\u00e2tirente submitted to two companies held in its portfolio a shareholder proposal requesting the adoption of a corporate target of net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.batirente.com\/en\/batirente-seeks-net-zero-ghg-emissions-target-from-cibc-bank\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-cke-saved-href=\"https:\/\/www.batirente.com\/en\/batirente-seeks-net-zero-ghg-emissions-target-from-cibc-bank\/\">CIBC Bank<\/a>\u00a0having accepted to make such a commitment, B\u00e2tirente withdrew its proposal. As for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.batirente.com\/en\/batirente-seeks-net-zero-ghg-emissions-target-from-imperial-oil\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-cke-saved-href=\"https:\/\/www.batirente.com\/en\/batirente-seeks-net-zero-ghg-emissions-target-from-imperial-oil\/\">Imperial Oil Limited<\/a>, it will be submitted to shareholders for approval on May 1<sup>st<\/sup>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Through its commitment and its actions, B\u00e2tirente proves that it is possible to combine performance and responsible action for the benefits of all its members.<\/p>\n<p>B\u00e2tirente is taking care of the planet every day by developing a strong community around the sharing of best practices and by encouraging companies to implement sustainable business models.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.batirente.com\/en\/responsible-investment\/climate-commitment\/\" data-cke-saved-href=\"https:\/\/www.batirente.com\/en\/responsible-investment\/climate-commitment\/\">Find out more about our climate commitment<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Did you know that since 1970, April 22nd is Earth Day?
