Montréal, March 2, 2022 – Bâtirente is pleased to announce several new appointments to its Board of Directors. December 2021 saw the appointment of Hélène Jacques as Vice-Chair, with Kevin Gagnon of the Syndicat des Travailleuses et Travailleurs de Bridgestone de Joliette (CSN) labour union appointed as group representative and Simon Mathieu Malenfant—Vice-President, Treasury, for the FEESP-CSN union—appointed as the CSN-designated representative. Hélène Jacques was appointed to replace Vice-Chair Nathalie Arguin, who had held that role since June 2011 and left following her election to CSN’s General Secretariat. Ms. Jacques has served as an independent member of the board since March 2019. She is a corporate director and strategic consultant with over 30 years’ experience in the financial sector, particularly related to institutional investment. In the words of Yvan Duceppe, Board Chair, “Nathalie Arguin did an admirable job on our board, and we are grateful for her contribution. She was a valuable asset for the Governance Committee, especially in 2016, when Bâtirente was undergoing a change in its governance structure, which helped consolidate and expand the central place of groups within the corporation. I’m confident that Ms. Jacques will ensure a seamless transition as she takes over, and we’re thrilled with her appointment.” Kevin Gagnon was appointed group representative to replace Benoit Théorêt of the Syndicat des travailleurs de Câbles d’acier de Pointe-Claire (CSN) union, who was a board member since June 2014. Mr. Gagnon is a member of the Syndicat des Travailleuses et Travailleurs de Bridgestone de Joliette (CSN) union, where he has been active as a delegate, Vice-President and President since 2011. In 2018, he was elected Vice-President of Training, Health & Safety and Environment for the Fédération de l’industrie manufacturière (FIM-CSN). Simon Mathieu Malenfant was appointed as the CSN’s designated representative, replacing Nathalie Arguin. He has been active in the union sector for close to 20 years. As an SAQ employee, Mr. Malenfant became involved in the Syndicat des employés de magasins et de bureaux de la SAQ (SEMB-SAQ) union around the year 2000 and was in charge of labour relations within the executive committee. He was elected Vice-President, Treasury, for the Fédération des employées et employés de services publics (FEESP-CSN) in June 2021. “I wish to thank Benoit Théorêt for his years of dedication to Bâtirente’s board and to the Member Services Committee. His participation in our commitment to offer our group leaders and our members the best possible tools was greatly appreciated,” stated Éric Filion, CEO. “It’s our pleasure to welcome Kevin Gagnon and Simon Mathieu Malenfant to our board. Maintaining close relations with CSN union members and the union’s various federations is important to Bâtirente, since we all share the same goal of ensuring their successful retirement!” About Bâtirente Bâtirente is a group retirement system created in 1987 at the initiative of the CSN.
